Well, I think Rick French delivered tonight. The venue is awesome, music was great. Can't wait for more on Saturday. To the whiners out there, your loss. Well worth my $50. I hope this event can stay in NC.

Awesome Show Empty undelivered

Post  pilot115 Sat Sep 20, 2008 9:32 am

Delivered? compared to a Woodstock, Monterey, Isle of Wight? "wordwide interest, concert event of the year, a show NC will be talking about for years"? come on. I was one of the many "whiners" in the parking lot before the show (there were many of us) who had extra tickets that we wanted to sell. I had 4 excellent seats for this concert event of a lifetime. Tickets got 0 response on Craigslist. I couldn't sell one ticket in the parking lot before the show even though they were being sold for less than half the original price. I came home and called around to friends to give away tickets for free--still nobody wanted them.

I think the show has some good performers, but here is the meat of the problem. Rick over-hyped this show way more than he was able to deliver with the line-up. This show should have been sold-out and is not. I want to thank the promoters for a valuable but expensive lesson learned when it comes to buying extra tickets for an event based on promises.

Now, I don't expect this post to last through the day, negative feedback has been quickly removed from here. Guess you can only post if you agree with the event promoters. But I would love to hear from those who were less than impressed with the way this concert has been sold to the public. Let these voices be heard.

I had a great time and am looking forward to more. Did you ever really believe that a show comparable to Woodstock would be held in a 7000 seat venue? Come on! Whether it will make history is yet to be seen. If you don't like it, stay home and pout while the rest of us enjoy ourselves. Next time don't buy more tickets than you need!

Oh we thought it was GREAT! I only wish we had gotten there a little earlier! Also thought it was cool seeing some young fans there. They seemed to be enjoying it as much a we did!

Great start. Rick Derringer really brought it on. The White Sox, Tom Bowes vocals were great, violinist Geoffrey Castlees was awesom, VooDoo Chile on a violin, that's probably a first, but WOW, I'm definitely checking out his work. Dave Mason band was tight. Really enjoyable. The only change I would have made would have been to put Rick Derringer on after the White Sox. Looking forward to a another great day, and by my count, only about another 80 musicians to go!

Awesome Show Empty THIS SHOW ROCKED!

Post  cinbu Sat Sep 20, 2008 11:05 am

To the whiners: Shut up and go home. The rest of us had a fantastic time! To see this level of experienced performer in this beautiful venue was awesome. Rick French did a fantastic job, I loved the concert, and the details of a good concert were all there as well. I am from California, SF Bay Area, and have been an avid rock concert attendee for 35 years. Plenty of restrooms, good food, fair prices for basics (water, etc) good clean venue, time managed well, performers seemed very happy and interested in what was going on even when they were off stage, Security was quite capable yet easy to live with, and the added bonus of some of the great artwork from the Hall, etc... well, it was a class event. To those who's friends didn't want tickets: You need new friends. Your friends don't rock anymore.

I'm only 17 and i thought the show was pretty awesome. I didnt know about the Jimi Hendrix dude til like 2 days ago but he was amazing, one of the best guitarists I've ever seen. Rick derrenger, alan white, eric bazilian- amazing singer, and dave mason were all amazing. i think tonight's show will be even better.

I agree with a previous poster - compare Woodstock realistically to a 7000 seat venue - come on dude, get real! Rick delivered what he promised - a one of a kind show with great musicians. How can you be complaining after what we saw last night? Geoffrey Castles was incredible - definitely see some of him in my iPod future. The White Sox - amazing after only practicing together for 2 days. Rick Derringer - fun to see him after all this time - the man can still play big time. And Dave Mason - have never seen him live before last night and always wanted to - what a talent!! So is his boy Johnny!

So to you complainers - don't bother. Most of us think it was/will be well worth the money we paid. Remember that Woodstock wasn't a history making concert until after it was over - and we're not talking 100,000 people here. What you are getting for a minimum $50 investment is awesome - you need to be realistic in your thinking!!!

I had a blast, and can't wait for tonight.

Awesome Show Empty there is a simple answer to that question rockfan

Post  cinbu Sat Sep 20, 2008 12:13 pm

Our whiner said he was in the parking lot, and then he went home to offer tickets to his friends... what he didn't say is that he didn't go in and see the show.

Totally in agreement. I'm still blown away at the muscianship I heard last night. If tonight is even BETTER than I expect to explode into my basic elements and disappear into the stars once and for all. What a Face

Awesome Show Empty One complaint

Post  oasisfan Sat Sep 20, 2008 1:27 pm

I thought I saw at some point that the gates were to open at 6:00 and the show would start at 7:00. I got there at 6:30 and by the time I was in the venue, the contest winner had already performed. He sounded great out in the parking lot. Was he good in person? The golf cart guy, who gave me a ride, had a schedule which showed he was to start at 6:10 and Rick Derringer at 6:45, although they said they didn't open the gate until 6:15. Fortunately, Rick didn't start according to their schedule. I hated missing the contest winner.

I enjoyed the White Sox Band the most. Toward the end of Dave Mason, I walked down to look at the art work. Much to my surprise, the band members were hanging out down there. I talked to several of them and they seemed to be as nice to me (I'm 51), as they were to the dressed up in black dresses and heels young blondes. The violin player personally invited me to the afterparty (I'm not going) because he will definitely be there jamming. It was fun. I could have talked to Rick Derringer, too, while I was up on the 850theBuzz VIP deck. I was busy eating ribs and never knew he was right behind me. Darn!

I have no earthly idea who Tom Bowes is, but dude could wail. As well, Eric Bazillian is cuter now than he was in his Hooters days.

I was not prepared for the cold though. Off to go buy a long sleeved shirt for tonight!

Unbelieveable Hendix set and jamming with the violinist. WOW!!!!!

Evening was great. Crowd was great and definatley into it big time.

To top it all off scalpers got scalped. Got to love that. Justice at last.
I've suspected scalpers as the source of angst from early on now it
has been confirmed.
Thanks to The Hall for that extra satisfaction.

To all happy rock fans see you there tonight.

I think the show was nice. A lot over hyped, but I am not going to complain too much. It would have been better as just a one day event with Dave Mason, Dennis DeYoung and Jack Bruce (in that order) without the rest.

I was not impressed at all with Jefferson Airplane. They were one of the 2 bands I was most looking forward to, so big let down for me.

Overall it was a great experience until some drunk dude threatened to kick my ass. I'd do it again.
