Signing Off the Forum and a Thank You
With the concert two days away and everyone beginning to roll into town today, this will be my last post prior to the show.
Let me start by saying it has been fun and I thank each of you who has contributed to the Forum and supported the event.
Over the course of the past 4-5 months what the Rock Hall tried to do was foster a sense of community among people who love music and shine a spotlight on artists that represented a particular musical era (the psychedelic rock period of the late 60s to the theatrical rock era of the late 70s). The concert itself will be very special. Now some people love the artists we invited and others don't and that's Ok, we all have our preferences. Next year's show will cover the hair band era of the mid 80s to the start of the grunge rock movement. As to where that show will be held, that decison will come later this year. As a Rock Hall trustee who lives in this community I am hopeful the event can remain here but only time will tell. But regardless of whether next year's show is here, New York, LA or somewhere else, the Triangle will always be able to say it hosted the first annual Rock Hall Benefit Concert and as the event grows in size and stature each year, that is a distinction we can all be proud of.
Pulling off a benefit concert such as this is unique challenge for a multitude of reasons and when you are thrown a curve ball like the one we got a few days ago, you just have to roll with it and realize that life sometimes doesn't go as planned. But all of the volunteers involved in planning this event have given every ounce of energy we have to making this weekend special for those of you who will be in attendance and for their efforts and all of your support, I am most grateful. The curtain is about to rise and it's almost showtime and I hope each of you enjoy the experience. I look forward to saying hello to as many people as I can at the show.

I was going to start a post "Kudos to Rick" but it seems more appropriate here. Never did I imagine that this show would become two days loaded with great musicians. No small feat Rick. Thanks again.
PS. Say it ain't so that they could move this event somewhere else.

Thanks Rick! Don't forget to look for the Roger Dean poster flying high above my lawn chair (I guess 8' is not technically "high above") if you'd like to join us for a cold one.

Thank you, Rick
My sincere thanks for all of the hard work you and your staff have done on this show. I have really enjoyed the slow rollout, as it has given me the opportunity to not only learn more about the music of my generation, it has also enabled me to converse with some very bright and fun people. Thanks also to all of the folks on this forum who contributed to the solutions of Ricks clues. I will toast each and every one of you THIS WEEKEND!!

Thanks for bringing this show into reality Rick!
As someone born way too late to ever see these bands on tour, this is a dream.
Can't wait for next years!
